George Markezinis
Chief Learning Officer
Sustainability and ESG expert with considerable experience in training and consulting.
As the current Chief Learning Officer in EcoSkills, he leads the training division of the company. Through his experience, he is responsible for designing, creating, and delivering EcoSkills training programs. Over the last years George has designed various online training programs, while at the same time has delivered sustainability and ESG related trainings in professionals in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. He has also worked on multiple sustainability/ESG strategies and reporting projects in organizations from around the world.
George is an Environmental Engineer, with an MSc in Environmental Management and Monitoring from the University of Plymouth. He is also a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, and a lecturer at the New York College in Athens.
Kate Kyriakopoulou
Training and Research Associate
Kate is a passionate biologist with a keen interest in sustainability. With a wealth of experience in the Microbiology lab of the Medical School of Athens, she has honed her skills in research and analysis.
As an instructor in sustainability seminars, she has empowered others with knowledge to drive positive change. Her former role as the Sustainability Coordinator for training and summer camps showcased her dedication to fostering a greener future.
Kate holds a MSc in Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Development from the University of Piraeus, fuelling her commitment to creating a more sustainable world.
Thokozane Magagula
Training Associate, PhD (c) in Conservation Ecology
Thokozane Magagula is a driven professional with extensive expertise in health, safety, and environmental management. Currently serving as the Assistant Director: Health, Safety and Environment at Port Elizabeth TVET College, Thokozane excels in compiling and reviewing hazard identification and risk assessment plans, conducting HSE audits, and coordinating safety training. His role also involves updating OHS procedures and policies, managing contractor compliance, and overseeing waste recycling.
Thokozane holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Witwatersrand, where he focused on conservation biology and environmental management. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Conservation Ecology at Stellenbosch University, with an anticipated completion date at the end of 2024. His career reflects a strong commitment to advancing sustainable development goals through rigorous research and practical application of environmental and safety protocols.
Anastasia Pentagioti
Training and Consulting Partner, Co- Founder of Sustainable WE Organization, PhD (c), in Sustainable Development
Anastasia’s professional journey reflects her deep commitment to sustainable development, starting with her crucial roles in NGOs and public institutions. She has worked as a Communication and Development Manager at Organization Earth, launching campaigns like #citizens4globalgoals and managing sustainable educational programs. Her consultancy work for the Ministry of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change further developed her skills in environmental communication and policy monitoring, while her time at the Municipality of Athens allowed her to support social entrepreneurship with a focus on sustainability.
As a manager for UN SDSN Greece, Anastasia has built networks and content to advance global sustainability. In her role as Special Advisor at the European Parliament, she has shaped high-level policy, offering strategic guidance on sustainability. She has contributed to global forums and authored an e-book on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, showcasing her dedication.
She is a PhD Candidate in Sustainable Development from the Democritus University of Thrace, holds a MSc in Bioeconomy from the University of Piraeus and the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a master’s in environmental governance for Sustainable Development from Panteion University (Jean Monnet). She has also researched at the European Centre of Environmental Research and Training of Panteion University.
Myrto-Maria Sapouna
Sustainability and Training Research Advisor
As a Sustainability Coordinator with a Masters in Sustainability Science, Myrto-Maria combines her skills in sustainability policy, circular economy and carbon analysis to actively support the path towards measurable climate impact. Her experience includes developing sustainability strategies and annual sustainability reports, preparing carbon footprint reports and ensuring compliance with international standards such as GRI, EcoVadis, ESRS etc.
Notable projects in her portfolio include a comprehensive sustainability assessment for the municipality of Heerlen in the Netherlands, where she applied methods such as multi-criteria, scenario analysis and others to guide the monitoring and promotion of circular procurement in the region, and her involvement in the Civil Society Network for the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Greece, under the Active Citizens Fund of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy, and the Icelandic Human Rights Center, where she focused on SDG 13 to help strengthen climate resilience within civil society.
Konstantinos Karamanos
Consulting, Training and Research Associate in Climate Crisis and Environmental Monitoring, Safety, and Emergencies
Konstantinos is a seasoned maritime expert and environmental consultant with over three decades of experience in the shipping industry and naval operations.
Throughout his career, Konstantinos has served in various high-responsibility roles, including Commanding Officer of a warship, Technical Manager at Salamis Naval Base, and NATO capability expert at SHAPE. In the private sector, he has consulted on environmental, safety, and security issues, developed specialized maritime courses, and led EU-funded research projects such as INACHUS. He is also an experienced auditor for ISM, ISPS, and environmental standards, bringing a wealth of expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response management to the team.
He holds a BA in Nautical Science, along with postgraduate degrees in Automation Systems and Environmental, Disaster, and Crisis Management Strategies from the National Technical University of Athens and the University of Athens, respectively.
